Sweden Based Studio Shotgun Anaconda Announces Their Cyberpunk Top Down Shooter DeadWire

Sweden-based indie developer, Shotgun Anaconda, announced that their brand-new, top-down, lightning-paced shooter DeadWire will hit Steam Next Fest with a brand new demo, available now to play throughout the event’s duration of 24th February to 31st March 2025.

The demo will be removed on 31st March. The game takes inspiration from Cyberpunk and Hotline Miami which is also coincidentally another game made in Sweden.

Here is the overview the developers shared with us about the game:

DeadWire is a top-down, adrenaline-fueled shooter set in a neon-soaked cyberpunk metropolis, where every enemy is an opportunity and every object is a weapon. As Wire, a skilled hacker with a debt to settle, you're on a mission to dismantle powerful criminal organisations threatening the only home you've ever known—the orphanage that raised you. Armed with weapons and your unique hacking skills, you have the power to turn the tide in this fast-paced top-down shooter. Use the power of your Rewire Mode to hack and link enemies, vehicles, and environmental objects, creating devastating chain reactions. Link a guard to a nearby car—shoot the guard, and watch the car roar to life, ploughing through enemies. Indulge your ears with the epic synthwave soundtrack as you harness almost every piece in your environment to outsmart and outmaneuver overwhelming odds.

So what’s on offer in the gameplay?

Dynamic Hacking System - Unleash the power of your Rewire Mode to hack and link enemies, vehicles, and environmental objects, creating devastating chain reactions. Turn arcade machines, ATMs and laser traps against their owners. The whole environment is your weapon.

Top-Down Destruction - Mix hacking, power-ups and gunplay in a fast-paced top-down cyberpunk shooter. Create devastating chain reactions to outwit enemies, break records and save your childhood mentor from a ruthless syndicate.

High Octane Combat - Dodge bullets, shoot enemies, keep moving — die and repeat. Engage in fast-paced, satisfying gunplay as you take down gang members, outlaw bikers, and sharply dressed drug lords with a score to settle.
Tactical Gameplay - There are often multiple ways to complete each level. Some take it slow and take out enemies one by one, others dash right in and stab enemies into a wall. Masters mix speed with gunplay and hacking to blaze through levels letting the reactive world create mayhem.

Challenging Missions - Complete side objectives and time trials for extra rewards and replayability.

DeadWire - Where even the bright city lights can’t hide the dirt.

Personally I was a big fan of the Hotline miami series and haven't really found another game that has given me the same "itch" so to speak. Deadwire looks very promising on that front and I wish the developer all best of luck on the project!
