Nintendo has finally officially commented on the Nintendo Switch 2 leaks that have been circulating online for the last week; they simply say they are "not official."
This news comes from the Japanese website Sankei.com, which can be read in English using a translator.
The article explains the current ongoing situation where accessory manufacturer Genki attended this year's CES, and showed off a 3D Print of the Switch 2 and their new accessories for the console. Genki toted their models as being exact copies of the real deal, but even CNET Japan stepped in and questioned it.
When CNET contacted Nintendo they too received the following response:
"The gaming hardware that Genki is claiming to be Nintendo hardware at CES is unofficial and was not provided to the company by Nintendo."
With Nintendo now stating these images are unofficial, it once again brings into question what the Switch 2 will look like, and exactly "how unofficial" these images really are.
While there is no denying the accessories are being manufactured for the Switch 2, it is always possible that their designs will need to be revised once the Switch 2 is fully revealed. Based on Nintendo's comments this will most likely be the case, but until Nintendo makes an official statement, it is impossible to truly know.
Either way, the current mock-up of the Switch 2, and the name Switch 2, are "not official."
