As the new year has started now most of us gamers are waiting on around summer for all the big announcements (maybe finally Switch 2 confirmation?). However, I wanted to take a moment to talk about some of the games releasing fairly soon up to March that were looking forward to playing.
Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter Wilds is probably one of the most hyped releases of 2025. With the success of the original Monster Hunter World, and it breaching fully into the western mainstream market, Monster Hunter has now become a worldwide known name. Wilds is building up on everything that World did and increasing both the size of, well. . .The world! Making it more alive and even crazier for monsters and players to interact with. Not to mention reworking some of the weapons and giving everyone the new aim ability! I know I will be dooting monsters with my new Hunting Horn echo ground attacks!
Monster Hunter Wilds is releasing February 28th, 2025 on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation 5, but will have a final open beta from February 9th to February 16th which will be fully free for everyone that has access to their respective consoles online stores and passes. So if you're still unsure if you want to get it now's your chance to try it out!
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally one of the few Nintendo Wii U exclusives that was stuck on the console for the longest time, but is finally getting a definitive edition release on the Switch! With new quality of life additions and hopefully game rebalancing of the quests and pacing much like they did to Xenoblade Chronicles 1. Personally I never took the chance to play the game on the original Wii U (was not yet the biggest Xenoblade fan yet), so personally I am fairly excited to give the game a proper chance!
Xenoblade Chronicles X releases March 20th, 2025.
Hyper Light Drifter
Hyper Light Drifter was a well loved and critically acclaimed indie game back in 2016, after almost ten years the sequel Hyper light Breaker is almost here. Compared to Drifter, which was a 2d top down pixel art action rogue lite, Breaker goes a bit of a different direction, its now a semi open world action rogue lite which you can play with friends in proper co op! With it going into full 3D you will be able to take the action and exploration into new heights compared to Drifter. Its looking to be an indie darling of this year, hopefully it delivers all the expectations it has on its back.
Hyper Light Breaker releases January 14th, 2025.
Atelier Yumia
Atelier Yumia is a new series in the well beloved Atelier franchise and looks to take a bit more darker and less light hearted take on a main story compare to the previous Atelier games. It also seems to update the core alchemist synthesis system to make it more intuitive while exploring the world. The previous Ryza games were pretty good so hopefully this new series in the franchise is as good as those were!
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land releases on March 21st, 2025.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is the sequel to the original highly acclaimed medieval action RPG open world. The game is a direct continuation of the original game's story, and once again puts players in the shoes of Henry as he goes up against the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund. Unlike most RPGs, Kingdom Come asks players to level up every single skill and ability, from something as simple as being able to talk to someone, to being able to throw a simple punch. Every skill needed to "live" must be leveled up.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 releases on February 4th, 2025.
Those are few of the near future games releasing soon! There are of course more games being released in these months but just wanted to highlight a few of them. Happy gaming!
