Deadline has reported that a TV series based on Quantic Dream's video game Beyond: Two Souls is now in the works.
The rights to the series have been obtained by Elliot Page's Pageboy Productions.
While no further information was provided, Quantic Dreams is once again involved with the project.
The original game's story had branching paths, and originally stared Elliot Page along side Willem Dafoe. We here at Netto's Game Room reviewed the game back when it originally released in 2013, and strongly recommended it due to its engaging story, and unique storyline with multiple endings.
To learn more about the TV show adaptation, here is what Quantic Dreams and Page had to say as reported by Nellie Andreeva.
“Filming the game was one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences of my career,” Page said. “The story’s rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers.”
The Beyond: Two Souls game, developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, the second time the festival had recognized a video game. It was praised for its cinematic approach to gaming and Page’s and Dafoe’s performances.
“This adaptation will honor the game’s legacy while inviting fresh perspectives,” Pageboy’s Head of Development and Production Matt Jordan Smith said. “Delving into questions of survival and how split-second decisions can alter not just our lives, but the lives of others, are key to telling the story.”
Beyond: Two Souls joins Pageboy Productions’ slate of upcoming projects. The company also just signed a development deal with Canada’s Bell Media.
“We are absolutely thrilled to collaborate again with Elliot Page on this project,” said Quantic Dream writer and director, David Cage. “I was blown away by his acting performance in the game, and I couldn’t think of anyone else to tell this story with the same passion on another medium. Beyond: Two Souls is a very special game for millions of players around the world who were moved by the story of Jodie and Aiden, and their journey in life and beyond. I know that Elliot has all the talent and instinct to make it something really unique on TV.”
