Ranma 1/2 remake is looking great!

Mappa recently released the intro for their upcoming remake of the all time classic Ranma 1/2 made by the well respected mangaka Rumiko Takashi.

I have been a big fan of Takahashi sensei's work ever since I was a wee kid back in early 2000's. Her style and comedy has been a great source of inspiration for me personally as an artist, and the remake seems to be capturing the original style faithfully of both the original anime and the mangakas style.

To give a quick synopsis of the plot: Ranma Saotome is in China training in martial arts with his father, and while in the middle of training, he has an unfortunate accident. Ranma falls down down in one of the many cursed springs, and now whenever he gets splashed by cold water, he completely turns into a girl! Once this happens, the only way to be turned back into a boy is by getting splashed by hot water. If that wasn't enough trouble, he also learns that his father has arranged for him to marry one of his best friend's three daughters, all to secure the future of the Tendo dojo.

The Father, Soun Tendo, learns about Ranma's predicament and still chooses to go with the engagement, and chooses his youngest daughter named Akane. She is a skilled martial artist herself; however, she is also notorious for hating men. Shenanigans ensues, and comedy gold is written.

The original show aired back in 1989 to 1992, and became an all time classic referenced even to this day. It ran for 161 episodes and had two movies.

Here's hoping that the remake is good! It premiered on October 6th this year.
