The Miraculous release of the RedAsh Anime OVA

The title isn't lying!

Many thought that the almost decade old Kicstarter Project RedAsh the Animation was silently cancelled; however, the truth is this OVA actually got released 6 years ago! It achieved it's Kickstarter goals, while the video game did not. As such the anime project was released but only in limited viewings, and as Youtube re uploads with no official English subtitles. Until now that is!

Studio 4C has finally decided to release it for free for everyone to enjoy with English subtitles! (You must activate CC).

RedAsh the Animation:

For quick context:

Red Ash was a project made by Keiji Inafune (mainly known for his work on the MegaMan series) back in 2015, around the time he had left Capcom and was working on Mighty Number 9. It was meant to be the spiritual successor to MegaMan Legends series (still waiting on that third game Capcom), and not only did it borrow it's gameplay from Legends, but it's namesake as well. Legends being known as "DASH" in Japan, and RedAsh being a secret name for Re:DASH.

The one of many reasons why the Kickstarter for the RedAsh game didn't pan out was because Keiji had started too many projects at the same time, and people were starting to get suspicious if he and his team could even deliver an actual successor to Legends. Especially while already being knee deep in a whole other project (Mighty No 9). At the same time he contacted Studio 4C to make an anime for Red Ash, and one thing lead to another and they made a Kickstarter for it as well. It surprisingly did get funded.

Very little was ever talked about or advertised after the Kickstarter's success. So little to the point that it wouldn't be a surprise if this was the first time you have ever heard of it's release. (Though Kickstarter backers did get a viewing of it 6 years ago, and re-uploaded what they could of it on Youtube for others to see.) Personally, I am very glad to see that Studio 4C has decided to officially upload it themselves with subs. Who knows, if the OVA does well on Youtube, maybe it could lead to an actual TV series? I adore this kind of steampunk style, and would love to see more of it!
