The VR anime movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom will be coming to Meta Quest 2 & 3 on October 3rd of 2024.
Taking place in the year 0096 of the UC calendar, the movie follows the story of a mercenary as they are hired to track down the remaining members of Neo Zeon. While Gundam fans have the new story to look forward to, the Anime and VR community as a whole can enjoy the completely new experience in general, without being an existing fan.
What makes Silver Phantom so special is not only the fact that it is next entry in the UC timeline, but it is also the world's first anime movie that has been created for VR. The movie itself is a complete VR experience, with multiple camera angles throughout the story. From first person points of views inside the cockpit of a Gundam, to outside cinematic views of fight scenes; the movie will contain everything one might expect from Gundam.
On top of the movie, the Meta Quest 3 will have access to the Mixed Reality experience add ons. This includes the ability to play with Gundam figures, partake in mini games, and step through a portal to view a life sized Gundam.
The movie can currently be pre-ordered on the Meta Store with an 11% discount for a price of $15.99. Once the movie has been released, it's price will increase to $17.99.
