I know I'm a little late on this, but a few days ago Microsoft stealth released Halo Combat Evolve on PC. While us insiders were allowed to play the game early last week, it is now up for download for everyone. For those of you who bought the full Master Chief Collection, all you need to do is update your game and you'll gain access to the new content. For those of you who only bought Reach, or only care about CE, then you can purchase the game on it's own for $10. The game will still be a part of the Collection, but it will be the only title playable if you choose to go this route.
Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary originally released back in 2011 for the Xbox 360, and was a special edition of the original Halo. Rather than simply porting Halo CE to the next generation hardware, the game came with Xbox Live capabilities, and an entirely new graphics engine that could be swapped in in place of the original. This new graphics engine updated the game's models and textures to HD quality, while also adding some other quality of life improvements to help with later sections of the game. While the new graphics engine does make the game look nicer, the original game elements themselves are not modified. This means collisions and objects from the original Halo have not been changed. Sadly this can cause issues with things like the sniper rifle which can lead you to shooting invisible walls, but overall it's not that big of an issue. Because of this sort of thing multiplayer maps have not been updated in Combat Evolve Anniversary, so no one online is ever at a disadvantage based on their choice of graphics.
