Last month at GamesCom Sony announced that some of their PlayStation 3 games will allow you to transfer over to the PlayStation 4 by paying a small fee. Although up until now we have known that Call of Duty would be one of them, Sony never did announce how much the fee would be, or what other games would support it. Well, today that all changed.
It turns out that Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, and Watch_Dogs will all be able to move from the PS3 to the PS4. Anyone who buys a copy of one of these games for the PS3, will receive a download code for the PlayStation Store. Once you enter this code, you will then be able to activate and play the PlayStation 4 version by putting the PS3 disc into the console.
If you are a fan of digital downloads, the process is a little bit different. Anyone who buys and downloads a digital version of the game will not have to insert a disc or type in a code, but instead they will have to pay an extra $10 to download the PlayStation 4 version.
Although not every cross generation game will support this, it is nice to see that quite a few of the major titles will. This way you do not have to wait a few extra months to play your long awaited games, and you can still experience the 8th generation version later on down the line.
