The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is one of them games I waited a
year for, and then picked up as soon as I possibly could. I liked the
art style, I liked the idea of the crafting system, I liked the idea of
being able to fly in the sky, and I also really liked the idea of how
the lower world was set up. Being able to play a Zelda game that was a
mix between Zelda, Metroid, and even Assassin's Creed, was just amazing
to me. The game seemed to feature just about everything I could ever
hope for in a Zelda game, and I knew I would be playing the heck out of
it; however, I guess I really didn't know anything...
I'm not saying Skyward Sword is a bad game, its far from it actually, but it really wasn't what I was expecting. Sure I did have a lot of fun with the game, and I did like its general game mechanics, but it really just didn't feel right to me. After finding myself back tracking to the same areas over and over again, after fighting the same boss a few times, and after finding out the harp doesn't actually let you play music, I started to see that the game wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Well jump forward a year and quite a few months, and here we are! Once again I have picked up Skyward Sword, but this time I actually plan on beating it. Where I last left off was actually during the last 3-4 hours of the game, so I know I'll be able to finish it, but its kind of sad that it took this long for me to get around to it. Normally amazing games are so amazing that I WANT to keep playing, and I will find myself playing them for hours at a time; however for this game I actually had to stop playing for a year before I could advance. Maybe I just got tired of doing the same thing over and over again, or maybe it's because other amazing games were coming out, but whatever the reason is, it really doesn't matter. The fact is, I just couldn't play it non stop like I wanted to.
Anyway, if you haven't played Skyward Sword yet, I still do recommend picking it up, but you should also expect to be seeing the same areas over and over again. Maybe you'll find it getting old just like I did, or maybe you'll be able to look past it and see just how good the game really is.
